HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES IN BOYNTON BEACH
Headaches
While headaches and migraines are similar in location, headaches occur much more frequently and are a more common symptom. Along with back pain, headaches affect thousands of people every day, even here in Boynton Beach. Headaches can be a symptom of many different conditions and diseases and occur when you are ill. On the other hand, a headache may be caused by a specific environment or circumstance.
However, when headaches occur repeatedly, they are a symptom of a headache disorder. People with recurring headaches oftentimes do not understand that something is causing the headache. Taking a pain medication, over the counter or prescribed, might provide relief from your headache today. But when another headache comes, you must take more medication to alleviate its pain. It becomes a cycle that never ends. Along with the cycle, there may be side effects due to prescribed medications that you want to avoid. To stop the cycle, you must determine the cause of the headache.
Migraines
Migraines are headaches to the extreme. If you question whether you have ever had a migraine, you probably have not. The pain from migraine headaches can be mind-numbing and leave sufferers unable to function. In the instance of migraines, like headaches, pain medication can sometimes help, but until the root cause of the migraine is found, they will continue to return.
Symptoms of Headaches and Migraines
Headaches and migraines share many of the same symptoms, such as:
- Hallucinations
- Depression
- Irritation
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Neck stiffness and pain
If you have a headache or migraine, you might try to avoid bright light (difficult to do in sunny Florida), have an intolerance to noise, and just want to lie down and sleep. In most cases, you will find an analgesic to give you some relief.
What Causes Headaches and Migraines?
As stated previously, headaches can be a symptom of another illness, condition, or disease. Soe people get headaches from strong scents, computer lights, vision and problems with glasses, and hitting their head on something. On the other hand, recurring headaches not associated with something else, including migraines, can be caused by a misaligned spine.
When you have a toothache, you know to see a dentist. However, when you have headaches, it might not occur to you that you should schedule a consultation with a chiropractor. Because the spine and nervous system control everything in your body, if the cause of your headaches and migraines is a misaligned spine, you should see the spine experts – chiropractors.
If the vertebrae of the spine move out of proper alignment, it can put pressure on surrounding tissue and nerves. This pressure can cause many problems, including headaches and migraines.
